According to ClinicalTrials.gov, there are over one hundred clinical trials of cannabidiol (CBD) that are active as of October 2021. Pain, mood disorders, CBD for addiction, Alzheimer’s, autism, drug interactions, and how CBD works in the body are among the most common topics of study.
CBD clinical trials are important because currently there is virtually no regulation of CBD products by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Likewise, aside from the approved CBD antiseizure drug Epidiolex, there is no FDA-recognized medical benefit of CBD. Clinical trials are necessary in order for CBD to earn recognition and acceptance for its benefits.
These trials also offer an opportunity for those with conditions that may benefit from CBD to participate in the scientific process. If you are interested in being a participant in a CBD clinical trial, see what trials are enrolling, check the criteria, and then speak with your doctor to get more information on becoming a clinical trial participant.
