Cannabis policy changes are moving quickly throughout the US. With the passing of recent hemp legislation, members of the cannabis industry have a lot to look forward to this year, including state-by-state cannabis legalization. However, to better prepare for the future, it’s important to take a look back to where and how cannabis was first used both medicinally and recreationally and why it eventually became a prohibited substance not too long ago in its history. From an ancient remedy to recreational use to a widely-studied and controversial substance, cannabis still manages to create excitement and frustration (depending on the audience) thousands of years later.
