The 55-and-older crowd is now the fastest-growing demographic of cannabis users in the country. And why not? CBD can address many of the ailments that this age group is prone to. The neuroprotective qualities CBD imbues on the brain also make it an ideal preventative therapy for this age group, who are most at risk for developing serious neurodegenerative conditions. Its analgesic qualities, thought to be modulated through interactions with the CB1 and CB2 endocannabinoid receptors, make it an excellent alternative to opioids for pain reduction.
