Best CBD Products for Summertime Adventures

Written by Lisa Rennie

We’ve all been craving the summer, especially those of us who live in northern parts of the country. But along with all that fabulous sun and heat comes the need to take certain precautions to keep us healthy and safe.

There are certain products that need to be added to our summertime stash, but incorporating CBD into the mix can make it even easier to stay safe while enjoying all the best that summer has to offer.

CBD Sunblock

When it comes to protecting your skin from the powerful UV rays of the sun, sunblock is a must. But if you take a closer look at some of the ingredients in the average sunblock product on the shelves, you’ll quickly notice a lot of potentially harmful chemicals and additives that are not exactly conducive to healthy skin.

Some research suggests that parabens, for instance, may interrupt healthy hormone function, which has been associated with increased risk of breast cancer by mimicking estrogen and binding to estrogen receptors on cells in the body. [1]

These days, not only can you find sunscreen products that are free of harmful chemicals, many are including CBD, too. With a certain amount of CBD in every bottle of sunblock, the cannabinoid can work synergistically with non-nano zinc oxide—which contains particles that are not able to absorb deep into the skin—to protect the skin against the sun.

Sunburn Aid

If you do happen to forget to apply sunblock before spending the day outdoors and suffer from a sunburn, CBD topicals may be able to help. CBD has anti-inflammatory properties, [2] which can help prevent the skin from getting inflamed from the sun. While this may work better before exposing the skin to the sun, the healing effects of CBD may be able to help minimize the discomfort as a result of sunburn.

Further, CBD’s ability to relieve pain [3] can also prove to be effective in alleviating the discomfort experienced as a result of sunburned skin.

Moisturizer

All that sun and summer heat can dehydrate the skin, which is why it’s important to keep the skin moisturized throughout the warmer months of the year. As a natural defense against dehydration of the skin, the body will start to produce sebum, an oily substance, to protect the skin from drying out.

As such, applying a moisturizer to the skin when it’s hot out can help prevent any dehydration of the skin. And using a topical that’s been infused with CBD may prove to be effective.

That’s because CBD can help keep sebum levels at bay while moisturizing the skin along with the other contents of the topical. [4] When the skin produces too much sebum, it can lead to acne and breakouts when combined with bacteria and clogged pores. Minimizing this sebum production can reduce the chances of acne and breakouts while keeping the skin moisturized and hydrated.

CBD Water

Speaking of hydration, it’s absolutely essential to drink plenty of water when it’s hot out to prevent dehydration. That’s a widely-known fact. But rather than reach for a typical glass of water, there are now CBD water products available that can both keep the body hydrated while delivering CBD to the body to take advantage of all its health benefits. [5]

CBD water is made by infusing water with CBD nanoparticles, which can make CBD more bioavailable. By using nanotechnology to create CBD water, the CBD particles are so small that they can be absorbed into the blood more quickly and efficiently compared to regular-sized particles.

By drinking CBD water, you can both keep your body well-hydrated and send CBD to various parts of your body quickly to take advantage of any one of its many effects.
