Who they are: Care By Design is a northern California company that uses local CBD-rich cannabis grown outdoors. They only offer full spectrum products; per their website, “We don’t isolate the CBD molecule, and we don’t isolate our people, plants, or patients.” Nice. They showcase the machinery used to extract their CBD in a cool video. The site also features informative articles and databases that guide the consumer to the right product and local dispensaries where it is available. There are downloadable lab tests, but they appear dated and some of them are not matched to the correct product. The price points are also a little difficult to pin down since these products are offered at different dispensaries throughout California.
Why they’re unique: With five CBD-to-THC ratios to choose from, patients and consumers can tailor their experience according to their needs and preferences. Not everyone is a fan of THC, but Care By Design is not a fan of demonizing it. So they provide options.

Care By Design offers gel caps in three different CBD-to-THC ratios – 18:1, 4:1, and 1:1. These are available in 10 mg and 20 mg doses. The 1:1 gel cap placed 2nd as an edible in the 2017 High Times SoCal Cannabis Cup. The gel caps do contain gelatin – sorry, vegetarians and vegans.
