Cannabidiol (CBD) tinctures are an effective way of consuming this cannabinoid. Thanks to the proliferation of information, consumers with a little DIY in their blood can learn how to make their own tincture by following a few different recipes.
What Are Tinctures?
Tinctures are traditionally alcohol-based concoctions containing the active plant ingredients. [1] In the cannabis world, inflorescences and biomass have a wide history of use in tinctures. Tinctures are popular among those who do not want to smoke, ingest, or inhale cannabis. Consumers use it for both recreational and medicinal purposes, and there is a wide variety of flavors, concentrations, and blends for users to choose from. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the most valued substance in cannabis and it is extracted by alcohol during the preparation process. Now that CBD is so well known and consumed, it can be found as tincture too, but it is extracted and prepared from hemp plants containing low THC percentages.

Bees are the world’s most important pollinator. They collect pollen as an important part of their diet, and a typical-size hive of bees collects around 57 kg (125.4 lbs) of pollen per year [1]. Through evolution, flowers have adapted to hide their nectar deep within, ensuring that every time a bee seeks that sweet nectar inside a flower, there’s a good chance at least some pollen is going to stick to their bodies. Bees have specialized anatomy in their legs made for collecting pollen. Commonly, these parts are referred to as the “pollen rake” and the “pollen basket.” Straightening their legs they push pollen further into the “basket,” leaving room for more [2].

Honey bees in particular are known to visit only one type of flower on a single foraging trip, also known as “floral fidelity.” Pollination by bees also allows flowers to share genetic material with each other. In this way, male flowers can transfer their pollen in female flowers of the same species through bee-assisted cross pollination.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is often converted into other minor cannabinoids which can be present in the plant in trace amounts, but known and requested in high demand in the market.
An example of these cannabinoids is Delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

The acidic conversion of CBD into psychoactive cannabinoids is studied since 1940 [1] and the process was patented in 2008. [2] It involves mixing Lewis acid in an organic solvent, adding CBD to the reaction mixture and refluxing under hydrogen athmosphere. The mixture is then diluted with an organic solvent and then cold water is added in order for the mixture to split into an aqueous and an organic phase: the latter is the one containing THC-8.. Finally, the organic phase needs to be removed, and then Delta-8-THC is eluted from it. [3]

While this process is generally considered simple, at least by scientific standards, it can pose risks, especially to non-professional people. The acid used during the reaction can be concentrated, caustic and seriously poisonous. It can also evaporate in the air and become an invisible threat.

In recent years cannabidiol (CBD) has made the switch from taboo to mainstream. Today people can find CBD in various forms, from gummies and capsules to tinctures, balms, and vapes. CBD products are also sold in local health stores, dispensaries, specialty online stores, and even massage spas.
Yet even though it has become incredibly popular amongst many, there is still confusion surrounding its legal status. Since there are state and federal regulations regarding CBD use, your ability to buy and use CBD legally ultimately depends on where in the US you live.
The Legal Status Of CBD In The United States
The controversy surrounding CBD use in different US states lies in the fact that CBD can be derived from hemp and cannabis plants. At the federal level, if CBD is obtained from hemp with less than 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) by dry weight, it’s legal. On the other hand, if CBD is derived from cannabis with higher THC content, it is considered illegal because cannabis is categorized as a Schedule 1 prohibited substance [1].

Cannabidiol (CBD) has anti-inflammatory properties that work on your skin when consumed orally or applied topically. It has been confirmed that the cannabinoid receptors in the brain maintain skin homeostasis and skin barrier formation or regeneration. CBD is great for treating a wide range of skin conditions by reducing irritation, redness and swelling that causes flare ups and pain. [1]

Acne is the most common skin disorder among people, affecting 9.4% of people. There are many treatments on the market for acne, including prescription ointments and pills. No treatment is going to be effective for everyone, which is why there are an overwhelming amount of treatments for different skin types.
A study looked at how the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD affected the treatment of acne.

Yes, cannabis-based drinks are real. There are many cannabidiol (CBD)-based products, but today we will be talking specifically about CBD beverages/seltzers.

What is CBD?

CBD is one of the active compounds that can be found in cannabis plants.

You will not get “high” from CBD. The active compound from the cannabis plant that gets you “high” is called tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBD on its own will not induce psychotropic effects, but it is still psychoactive, meaning that it does affect your mind. It can make you feel more relaxed, feel less pain and even feel more comfortable. [1]

Are CBD beverages legal?

These days, cannabis is being increasingly used for health and wellness purposes.

The stigma associated with cannabis continues to weaken, as more and more people realize the potentially therapeutic effects of cannabis and hemp-derived compounds, including cannabidiol (CBD). In fact, a recent survey conducted by The Harris Poll discovered that an overwhelming majority of people who incorporate cannabis products into their regimens do so to improve their health and target specific symptoms. Given the therapeutic effects of CBD and its benefits on both the physical and mental aspects of health, this cannabinoid has taken its rightful place in the world of holistic health and wellness.

According to the poll, 91% of adults aged 21 and over who’ve ever consumed cannabis did so for their health. More specifically, those polled added cannabis to their routines to address the following issues:

Within the last few years, cannabidiol (CBD) sales have skyrocketed. In 2014 alone, total US CBD sales were $108 million. In 2021, sales increased to $4 billion, a 37-fold increase. [1] The pet market has been no exception to this growth, with $5.6 million in 2018 sales to $125 million in 2020. [2] Much of this growth has been due to the potential benefits of CBD on both physical and mental health issues for pets.

CBD is derived from Hemp, a version of cannabis containing less than 0.3% of the psychotropic tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBD has unique, non-intoxicating effects and is not addictive. CBD was first discovered in 1940 and tested on animals in the 1960s. However, starting in 1970, decades of federal regulations against cannabis products halted research. In 2018 Federal law removed hemp and hemp extracts (including CBD) from the Controlled Substances Act. This law erased most restrictions on CBD and allowed scientists to conduct better research on its use.
